What we verify before a teacher is listed
No one can add themselves to this registry. A teacher only appears after we personally complete every one of these checks:
- Background checkEvery listed teacher completes a criminal background check. We re-check periodically.
- Current liability insuranceWe confirm the teacher carries active professional liability insurance.
- Verified credentialsWe confirm their yoga certification with the issuing school or the Yoga Alliance directory.
- References we contact ourselvesWe speak directly with people who've seen the teacher work with neurodivergent young people — not letters the teacher hands us.
- Identity confirmedWe confirm the teacher is who they say they are, so the person you contact is the person we vetted.
- Real experience with neurodivergent studentsWe look for genuine, demonstrated experience and a neurodiversity-affirming approach — not just enthusiasm.
What the badge does not mean
We want to be honest about the limits, because your family's safety depends on you having an accurate picture:
- It is not a guarantee of any particular result, experience, or fit. Every child is different.
- A background check reflects available records at a point in time. No check can predict the future or catch everything.
- We verify credentials and insurance when a teacher joins; we ask teachers to keep them current, but you're welcome to ask to see them too.
- We don't supervise sessions or employ these teachers. You arrange and pay for sessions directly with them.
- Yoga is a wellness practice, not medical or therapeutic treatment.
In short: the badge means we did careful homework so you start from a place of trust — but you know your child best, and we encourage you to ask your own questions before and during any sessions.
How a teacher becomes “Reviewed”
- They apply. A teacher fills out our application with their experience, approach, and how to verify their credentials, insurance, and references.
- We verify everything above. We check credentials, confirm insurance, run a background check, and call their references ourselves.
- Only then are they listed. If a teacher clears every check, we add them with the ✓ Reviewed badge. If they don't, they don't appear here.
